"Smoking at hospital entrance"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres

(as a relative),

My mum was admitted to Hairmyres today. At the main entrance, there were about 10 people smoking. Some standing right at the door and ignoring several no smoking signs.

Dear Madgey

I’m sorry to read of your experience at the hospital entrance. Enforcing the No smoking policy remains a challenge for us. We have put numerous things in place to try and address this and we are trying to spread the message which you can read about in a blog we published previously: https://www.patientopinion.org.uk/blogposts/372/smoke-free-grounds

Unfortunately we do not have enough staff to police all of the entrances all of the time. It is everyone’s responsibility to challenge people smoking on hospital grounds and we hope that our continued efforts and public awareness campaigns will help us achieve smoke free grounds

Thanks

Susan
