The Patient Opinion team
Patient Opinion is run by a small, passionate and highly experienced team. We can only have impact because of the extraordinary support, energy and guidance of very many more.
James Munro (@jamesfm55) is chief executive and chief technology officer. He worries endlessly about scalability, usability and data management, and is constantly planning new features for Patient Opinion. Some of these will actually appear. James has a background in clinical medicine, public health and health services research.
Paul Hodgkin (@paulhodgkin) is the founder of Patient Opinion, and an experienced social entrepreneur. Paul was a GP for 25 years, before founding and leading Patient Opinion for its first nine years.
Miriam Rivas-Aguilar (@miriamrivasa) is chief operating officer. Miriam was the first employee, in 2005. She has over 20 years experience in operations, HR, project management, business development and service delivery working in both the private and public sector. Miriam is the glue that holds Patient Opinion together: from managing the company's day-to-day operations and ever expanding team, through to keeping the company finances and all things corporate in order. Being from Chile, she loves to travel back home to see family and enjoy the food & music of her homeland.
Chris Suddes is non-executive director & consultant to Patient Opinion. He represents the views of users and carers on the Patient Opinion board. Chris was UK director of a shipping company until 2002, after 20 years at board level in supply chain management. He has been a non-executive director of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals FT and North Sheffield PCT and is currently a non-executive director of the North East Ambulance Service. He lives by the River Tyne in Newcastle and continues to dream of a career as musician…
Tim Hunt (@TimHunt59) is our integration development manager. Before joining Patient Opinion, Tim was the PALS manager for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. Originally a social worker, Tim has experience working as practitioner and manager, and a passion for empowering patients and service users. Tim leads our national work with healthcare students, with mental health care providers and a range of third sector providers too.
Kate Ebbutt (@kateebbutt) is responsible for communications at Patient Opinion. It's Kate's job to make sure plenty of people have heard of us, to keep our great work in the news and to spread the love for Patient Opinion throughout the country (and even the world!). Kate has 2 small children, who keen her happy and busy.
Sarah Ashurst (@sarahashurst08) is our subscriber services manager. Sarah brings energy and enthusiasm to her role at Patient Opinion. She is the first point of contact for many of the NHS organisations we work with, helping our subscribers to get the most from Patient Opinion. In her spare time Sarah is a keen rock climber.
Cally Bowman (@cally_patientop) is one of our two subscriber support officers. After studying ethics and peace studies at Lancaster University She joined the P.O team. It’s her role to support our subscribers and help them to engage with and gain the most from their feedback. She loves to travel, is passionate about animal rights and loves nothing more than a good cup of coffee and an avocado.
Codrina Cretu (@cdr_patientop) is our second Subscriber Support Officer, working alongside Sarah and Cally as part of the Support team. Codrina joined PO straight after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Politics and has a keen interest in cooking and all things sustainable.
Gina Alexander (@ginaaalexander) is the director Patient Opinion in Scotland. Having worked in service user involvement in mental health at a local level in Scotland for the last five years, Gina has just about worked in every sector - private, public, education, voluntary! Out of work, Gina's happiest when eating, spending time with family and friends, at Zumba class and (she admits this only because it has become the past time of the stars!) knitting!
Natalie Deacon (@DeaconNatalie) is one of our Engagement and Support Officers and makes up 1/3 of our Scottish team. Natalie is a keen runner and is about to take on the challenge of the London Marathon which is on her bucket list.
Mike Hamilton (@mikeedhamilton) is the Integration Development Officer, taking forward Care Opinion in Scotland. Mike has worked for over 20 years in a range of health and social care settings, including managing a day service for people with mental health issues and learning difficulties. He is passionate about involvement and managed a local user-led mental health charity for several years. Away from work, Mike can be found in his garden, up a Scottish mountain or at some obscure music gig.
Ross Padwick is our head of finance and Company Secretary. He loves nothing more than a thick stack of detailed procurement paperwork!
Tina Timms is our office administrator, providing much-needed support and organisation (as well as a tasty range of Indian snacks). Among other things, she provides daily assistance to patients and carers who call to share their story with us over the phone.
