I came for day surgery to remove a cataract earlier this week.
I was so impressed by the efficiency of all on McKellar Ward and also the Operating Theatres.
Patient dignity appears to be at the forefront and that is exactly what is needed.
Everybody introduced themselves and all parts of procedures were carefully explained.
The ward "delivered" me to the theatres where I was made comfortable by a technician.
The anaesthetists arranged some sedation (that I had requested and was immediately agreed) and also anaesthesia of the eye. Given that this is not especially pleasant, they explained carefully and ensured that I was comfortable.
The surgeon again explained everything and put me at ease.
Fortunately, everything went smoothly and I was then delivered to the recovery area for a short while - again great treatment - and then back to the ward.
Everything for aftercare was carefully explained and I was discharged in due course.
Bearing in mind that I was feeling quite anxious about the whole procedure, I feel that everyone concerned made it a more bearable experience.
So far, all is going well.
Thank you to the whole team !!
