I phoned my GP just after 6: 00pm in the evening but as the surgery was closed they advised me to call the 111 service.
They answered the call very quickly and went though a lot of questions with me and then transferred me to a nurse. The nurse said she would talk to a doctor who would call be back within 1 hour.
The doctor did call about an hour later and reassured me I would be fine. However, he knew I was not comfortable and suggested I go to the local A&E where they would be able to check me over. I explained I could not go far, he said I only needed to go to the local Caterham Dene hospital which was 15minutes away. I said I could get there by 8: 00pm. The doctor said he would give them a call so they would be expecting me.
When I arrived at the A&E department they were expecting me and saw me within 15 minutes. The doctor checked my temperature and blood pressure and said I was ok to return home and should arrange to see my GP – he would send the report to the GP which my GP would receive within 24 hours.
I saw my GP later that week, he had received the report from the A&E department, and every thing was fine.
I was very impressed with the service.
