Anything else?
I attended the ENT emergency clinic at Fairfield General Hospital with my son who had a broken nose. My appointment was an hour late, but that in itself did not annoy me until I came across the reason. The doctor running this clinic was extremely patronising, ineffiecient with time and seemed unable to answer even the most basic of questions about the procedure that she was proposing. Every question was greeted with 'ummm, i am not too sure about that.' It took her 10 minutes to examine my child, and despite asking if she was causing pain, continued to hurt him. In the end she asked for a senior doctor to have a look as she still was not sure whether it was broken. The senior doctor was a lovely man, who gently examined my son, gave me a good explanation about what the procedure involved, the side effects, and whether it would be of benefit. He was i the room for only a couple of minutes but put my mind at rest with his lovely manner and politeness. Unfortunately, I was then left with the original doctor who spent another 15 minutes with us doing things i was quite unsure about. Even the nurse in clinic seemed embarrassed about this doctor. We were with her for over 35 minutes. As we left, the senior doctor was in the corridor and gave my son a big thumbs up and a smile which made his day after his ordeal. I think this junior doctor is not up to scratch and reflects badly on what is otherwise a good department.
"Unprofessional Junior Doctor- thank goodness for..."
