When i was on golf holiday at St Mellion, i suffered chest pains which given my DVT history, gave me cause for concern. The hotel arranged for me to be picked up quickly by ambulance-paramedics were very caring- and taken to Derriford where I was courteously treated, with nurses and doctor checking me out with ECG and blood tests. The diagnosis was muscular and not heart and I was discharged within 3 hours of arrival and I was able to resume my holiday. As arthritic sufferer, aged 73, I am most grateful for the reception, checks, interest and respect taken throughout by all the staff. Given the recent virulent criticisms of the NHS, I can only say a massive "Thank You" to Derriford Hospital.. Head of A&E can be proud of their team, and and I Ieft feeling comforted and re-assured, with feedback promised to my GP back in Scotland. When I was on a similar holiday, I suffered a severe poisoned and painful finger joint, apparently due to infection from earlier gardening. This necessitated 4 days admission to Derriford and I underwent a small operation to drain it, with antibiotics afterwards. Again, the treatment was first class and saved my finger to enable me to resume golfing later in the summer. Well done all!
