"endoscopy 2nd May"

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

Anything else?

I had to wait 8 weeks for my appointment as i presume I was classed as non urgent, I have to say the waiting and the waiting for the procedure in the unit was the only part that caused any anxiety.

The staff were lovely, friendly, professional and efficient. I opted for the sedation being a bit of a coward ! Glad I did, I was given a throat spray, then a mouth guard was inserted and sedation put into my cannula and was told ' you will feel a nice and relaxed in a minute' The next thing I knew I was in recovery and a nurse was asking me how I was feeling, I was then taken to the patients lounge where biscuits, sandwiches, drinks are available, I felt fine if a little wobbly on my feet. After that I was taken to an office and my husband was called in, I was given my report and told my results (nothing dodgy) then given a ticket for pharmacy to collect my meds. I was expecting a long wait in pharmacy but I handed the ticket in and was given my meds in about five minutes !!

I didnt remember or feel anything about the procedure and went out for a meal in the evening, my throat wasn't sore, just a bit 'lumpy'. I recommend sedation for anyone nervous about having this done.
