"Emergency waiting list"

About: South Bristol Community Hospital

Anything else?

My husband had an apt on 25/03/13 to see a Doctor for a hernia op. priory surgery had agreed to fund this op. The Doctor we saw told us my husband would go on 'the emergency waiting list' which would be 6/8 weeks. I have since been told emergency waiting list's are more like 3/4 weeks. The surgery have submitted the funds to NHS, my husband is in excruciating pain, as the said hernia pops out so often, he also suffers from Parkinsons. I have tried on several occasions to contact the South Bristol Community Hospital, where no one there can apparently help me.this hospital seems to run on staff who have no idea of what's going on or they are completely incompetent . I now regret choosing this hospital to do my husbands op, wishing I'd gone for south mead or Frenchay where staff are trained to deal with people and answer their questions. This complaint has been sanctioned by the GP's surgery.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on NHS Choices. We are concerned to hear about your situation, although we can’t be sure from your comment whether this is an issue caused by the hospital or the funding process for the operation (which would be something out of the hospital staff’s direct control). Nevertheless, we would very much like to investigate this for you and would be grateful if you could contact our Patient Support and Complaints Team (0117 342 3604/ pals@uhbristol.nhs.uk) so that we can do this.
