"Four nights on Shopland ward"

About: Southend Hospital

Anything else?

First impressions were good - 7th floor of tower block and my bed was in a bright and airy bay for 6 patients.

With the exception of one member of staff ( a tea/dinner lady) everybody was approachable and would answer questions at any time. A few individuals remain in my memory as they were especially cheerful or kind (in recovery, the anaesthetist, an HCA, a S/N Emma and the hard pressed doctor). But everybody contributed to ensuring that my stay was not as bad as feared.

Thank you
