Anything else?
I was referred to the Emergency Admissions Unit by my GP on a busy Friday night. I was seen promptly and had several tests carried out during the evening. The staff are very busy on this ward but attentive and explained everything to me.
In the morning I was told I would be going to theatre for a laparoscopy and was given a bed on Ward 7b (PIU). All the staff on this ward including the agency staff are fantastic. In theatre, the planned laparoscopy had to be abandoned for an open procedure in order to remove a nasty burst appendix. The treatment I received in the operating theatre was second to none.
The whole experience of Southport Hospital has been fantastic. The ward is clean, the staff are friendly and very caring from the porters to the consultants. The only downside was, I couldn't eat the food because I had no appetite but it did look appetising. One of the nurses made the best piece of toast I have ever tasted in a bid to get me eating. Thank you to everyone who made my unexpected stay a positive experience.
"A truly fantastic hospital"
