"Unfair to staff and patients as the service..."

About: Worthing Hospital

Anything else?

The Sleep Clinic patient numbers have increased from 200 to 1000+ since it started but no extra nurses have been engaged. This is iniquitous. One poor young woman has to deal with all aspects of the service, which in my book is cynical exploitation of her goodwill. There is no longer any contact allowed via email as there once was when the job was manageable by one person, so dealing with problems is cumbersome, stilted and dependant on our substandard postal service. Surely a part-time person could be hired to help, ideally a retired nurse or suchlike to deal with stockchecking and issuing of CPAP machine parts to patients. A volunteer with some background of management of resources would be equally useful. They could field email requests for help without the patient having to endure frustrating wasted minutes of telephonic number engaged/call unanswered/leave a message nonsense. PALS kindly offered to forward any emails from me to the Sleep Clinic, but I am denied this facility. This is palpable nonsense. Memo to management: more nurses and less penpushers: that's what's needed! Clearly every department is chasing the same shrinking pot of NHS money and perhaps the Sleep Clinic is one of the Cinderella departments, but it is under-resourced and an unfair workload for one nurse to handle. They need more help!

Get it sorted! Stop wasting money on postage
