"Amazing care of me and the birth of my baby"

About: Lister Hospital

Anything else?

Just wanted to say how well cared for and looked after my baby and me were at Lister Hospital last month.

I have been under the care of an amazing consultant and a lovely man, since I found out I was pregnant last July. The level of care at his recurrent miscarriage clinic, then his antenatal clinic were second to none. I was scanned and swabbed every other week to make sure the pregnancy was progressing as it should be and it was great to have the continuity of care with the doctor throughout. I would highly recommend him to anyone who has had issues with miscarriages in the past. This was my fifth pregnancy and consultants elsewhere were suggesting I'd need a trans abdominal stitch, but the doctor managed the whole pregnancy successfully through monitoring and trying to prevent any infections forming.

Due to previous issues I was in the consultant lead unit at Lister for the delivery of my baby (on Mothers Day!). The staff at in the unit were all very friendly and down to earth. The midwife and student I had with me at the birth were fantastic and the facilitates and room I was given to deliver in were clean, tidy and still looking brand new. It was so nice to have a bathroom in the room, so I could shower after the birth.

At all times myself and my partner had total faith in the medical care me and our baby was given and we didn't feel this was compromised at all at any stage. There were specialists on hand if needed and everything was dealt with efficiently.

My experiences on the postnatal ward were good too. Plenty of staff to assist you if need be. Everything felt pretty clean and the staff were all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The food wasn't too bad either. It was a busy day for babies so I did have to change beds on the second night and the new ward was pretty noisy at night, but suppose that is to be expected!

Any concerns we had before going home were addressed and we felt happy to be leaving the hospital knowing our baby and me had been well taken care of. A paediatrician examined our baby a couple of times when we expressed concern and we were put at ease by him and his doctors.

All in all it was a very good experience and I would highly recommend the maternity care to anyone in the future. It was a very humbling experience to be looked after by such lovely and caring people who are a credit to their professions and the NHS.

Thank you so much for getting in touch, and we’re delighted that you are so happy with the care you received. We’ll make sure the teams involved get to see your kind comments, and in the meantime would like to wish you – and your new baby – all the very best for the future.
