Today I attended East Surrey (Redhill) Emergency Department as a walk-in patient. From previous experience with A&E departments (most notably Mayday in Croydon), I anticipated a zoo - large crowds, grubby waiting areas and long, long waits. I had written off most of the day.

Nothing could have been further from the truth. The whole area was bright and clean, and there was plenty of seating. I was signed in immediately, and within 5-10 mins I was having an ECG, BP test etc. 10-15 mins after that I was being assessed, and about 15 mins after that I had a consultation with a doctor. All the staff that dealt with me were friendly, considerate, and very efficient. It really could not have been a better experience. Well done folks, the NHS should be very proud of you !
