"Shouldn't I choose the appt, not TRAQS?"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

I thought I would be offered a “choice of appointments available at RSH and PRH. Instead I was given an appointment for RSH which is further away for me to travel. Fortunately I Q’d this, I was then offered an appointment at PRH.

The reason given was that the appointment for RSH was earlier than the one available at the PRH. Should that have been for me to choose, not the TRAQS operatives?

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback following your recent referral via TRAQS.

I am sorry to hear that you do not feel that you were offered Choice by the TRAQS team. The call script which the TRAQS Advisors follow always offers the patient the first available appointment, where ever that appointment is. If the appointment date or the hospital offered is not suitable other Choices are available, depending upon the Speciality of the referral. This forms part of the discussion with the patient before the booking is completed.

Some patients choose the earliest appointment available even if it means travelling further but that is always the patients Choice. I would like to reassure you that the TRAQS team do not book any appointments without the patient/carers agreement.

The TRAQS team appreciate all feedback as it helps us to develop the service further for the benefit of local residents within the Telford and Wrekin area.
