Anything else?
i stayed at st marys hospital at the start of march when i had my second child, i was astonished and frankly disgusted about the care which i received once i had had my baby, the care i received in the delivery suite was fabulous that i cannot fault. i had my baby on a tuesday evening and was then left in blood soiled clothes for 7 hours before being offered help with changing my clothes and being transferred to a ward. The was no post natal care to speak of. once i had been transferred to the ward the midwife briefly showed me to my bed and left. in the 3 days i was on the ward i was never asked how i was, wether i needed pain relief. one midwife asked me to undress my baby to check his temperature and said she would return in 30 minutes but returned after 8 hrs!! . i was only summond when it was meal times, any questions i had i would have to chase the team, no one ever got back to me, it was a real let down, this was my first visit to st mary's i only feel for first time mums who this must be over whelming for if they are not even asked about the basics.
i also was very upset as when i was in the induction bay ladies were allowed to spend hours speaking on mobile phones surely there should be some consideration for ladies in labour one lady had her phone on loud speaker which i then asked her to switch off, midwives should be overseeing this and asking ladies to keep telephone calls to a minimum. there is no justification for spending up to 3 hrs on the phone. time and effort has been spend on a new building the same effort needs to be put into improving the service.
"Maternity post natal care was awful"
