I was referred for a hernia operation which I was told was no more serious than having a tooth out - local anaesthetic. So, why did I have to chase up my date of the operation many weeks after the referral? I saw TRAC about June/July and eventually the operation was fixed for November. By that time I had contracted DVT so had to be on Hefarin/warfarin so I could not have the operation - fair enough. What annoys me is that if the op was “simple” why was it not done within a couple of weeks in June/July? You have a waiting list of 18 weeks and seemed determined to stick to this rather that squeeze in simple operations. Now the whole process has started again - I have to go for an examination next week then no doubt I will have to wait 18 weeks. In France the wait would have been around two days. The staff, nurses and doctors are very nice and helpful but there is too much bureaucracy.
"why can "simple" ops not be done quicker?"
