What I liked
When a local GP refers you to a hospital specialist, we all groan, don't we. Time off work, Cheltenham traffic, waiting time, but one day that specialist said "You need an operation". Scary stuff so you look for someone to explain what is happening now, in the immediate future and long term. The "human resources" training was evident, the teamwork presentation superb, even to the youngest nurse on night duty. Layer upon layer the team patiently built up the trust they needed to deal with a person in a highly stressful condition. It was superbly crafted attention to provide knowledge on which to operate and provide nursing. Still think the Polish must be short of coffee in their homeland though. Nice man, shame about the coffee. Bear in mind please that with the drugs on offer, nearly everything tasted differently from the normal one.
The enormity of the CGH structure to cope with the diagnosis, hospitalisation and clinics as well as ancilliary departments, is staggering. As a patient I was overwhelmed by the visits of professional staff, being acutely aware of each playing a vital role. Came to recognise the blood trolley if not the face behind it. Let's get this straight now, I have said a lot of complimentary things but I was out of that place as soon as I had the nod to push off. And because I need to get on a ward again soon, I had better not say much more. A cut and come again cake. One slice now and another for later sort of thing. The big question is "can the team get it together one more time".
