"A&E and EAU"
About: Sandwell General Hospital Sandwell General Hospital West Bromwich B71 4HJ
Mum was rushed to A&E at 12 noon, she was not transferred to EAU until 5.30 and this was at my repaeated requests to take her home. Staff did not keep us informed of what was happening and i had to constantly ask. A simple task like this could have made a world of difference.
EAU - the nursing and support staff on here were really honest and kept us informed of what the delays were. The lack of Dr's and only one consultant on this ward is not appropriate. Someone needs to do their sums in terms of staff numbers and the number of patients coming onto this ward for assessment or to be admitted. There was also a lack of private space for treatments and nurses were taking patients into the store room to provide clinical treatment. There was one chap who was put onto a drip in the waiting room. Too many patients and not enough chairs. The chair i was sitting on had a broken back rest and had i been frail i could have fallen backwords.
