My wife was sent to discharge lounge at about 1. 30pm. I arrived on ward at 2. 30 pm for visit not knowing she was ready for discharge. I was told she was just waiting for her tablets. I went home got her clothes and returned at 2. 55pm. At 3.30pm the nurse in charge rang pharmacy to see if my wife's tablets were ready but was told they had only had the list for one hour but would try and speed things up. At 4. 50pm the nurse rang again and was told the pharmacy did not receive list until 3. 55pm. Eventually we got the tablets and left the hospital at 5. 20pm nearly four hours from when my wife went to the discharge lounge. We were told by the nurse that there was usually a two hour turn around in discharge lounge and said sorry as this had not been the case in this instance. We felt somebody was misleading us as to when the list went to pharmacy and hope this never happens again
