"Extremely poor service in A&E"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

I had a stroke in December and I have been getting on okay. I woke up on Monday and I could not see, my vision came back slowly and I called my GP. My GP called the Stroke Dept and gave me some paperwork to give to the hospital. At the hospital I waited three hours in a plastic seat in a corridor after which I spoke to the receptionist advising my GP had referred me as they thought I may have some bleeding at the back of my head. I then had a blood test and an ECG and I was then taken to an A&E cubicle where I waited for a further 45 minutes before I was finally taken upstairs.

Once up stairs I was seen fairly quickly.

Given that everyone has seen the adverts for Strokes and that was the department my GP had indicated I had to see I was disappointed at the treatment and speed in which I was seen.
