"Disgusting"

About: Queen's Medical Centre

Anything else?

Twice has my mother been scheduled for an operation for a tumour. The first canceled due to an emergency, the second she was put on the ward on heady of her operation and left for 6 hours before they kicked her out due to too many on the operation list. She is partially sighted diabetic and was left alone to make her own way home. Now she's left waiting again for yet another date for an op. I am now intending to take this as far as I can I am disgusted. I am we'll aware that nurses and doctors are stretched but after being canceled once could they not have helped her out.

Response from Queen's Medical Centre

I would like to apologise to you and your family for the anxiety, distress and inconvenience caused by the cancellation of your surgery. While I appreciate that this will come as little consolation, I would like to assure you that cancelling operations is always a last resort and this decision is never taken lightly. If it is acceptable to you, please might you contact me directly on 0115 9691169 ext 56692 so that I can look into the individual circumstances regarding the cancellation of your mother’s surgery so we can provide you with a full explanation.
