"Lack of communication, complete lack of care"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My father was admitted to the AMU due to constantly falling, being delusional, leaning to his right and an underlying anaemia. After two days he was moved to A1 which is basically a discharge ward. The ward in my opinion is disgraceful. There are no phones/tvs etc and the patients are just left to their own devices in the main. They have not tried to find out why he has deteriorated since just before Xmas and are basically just waiting to get him in respite. They finally agreed to move him onto a rehabilitation ward A2 which has doctors etc but that was two days ago and he's still on A1 as the bed they'd promised him had been given someone else. He was sat up all day yesterday as they'd packed him up ready to go onto A2 and they'd stripped his bed so last night he was very tired and had to wait while they remade his bed.

My father has numerous health conditions but the deterioration has progressed rapidly since Xmas. He had an MRI scan just before Xmas but since then he has fallen and hit his head numerous times. So really a new one I think should have been taken. Also he has gastro problems and was down for a coloscopy prior to his admittance but due to his blood being too thin, they'd cancelled it. So when he had the AMU assessment, they were suggesting they put a camera down to find out what was going on but this has not been mentioned again. He's now very agitated which is not helping his health or that of my mother's and mine.

We need to know what is going on with him one way or another but in terms of communication the right hand does not know what the left is doing. It also is near impossible to find out who to contact to press the issue.
