As 69-year old man living alone was kept up all night by an unusual chest pain. On Sat a.m., called NHS advice line, who were clear, helpful, and decisive. Sent round an efficient, paramedic in under 10 minutes. He gave an ECG, checked me over, and reassured "no panic, but you need hospital tests to findcause", calling me an ambulance. This also arrived in under 10 minute with a friendly crew of 3. Wheeled me aboard, off to Watford General AAU. In a spotlessly clean, modern AAU, the kind and friendly staff did wide range of tests, and a doctor examined me, during a 3.5 hour stay. I was then efficiently moved to a comfortable, modern men's ward for observation, given a nice lunch/water, and could rest. The cardiologist carefully examined me/my test results, and explained heart was OK, but I'd had a lung infection, likely pleuracy. I was finally seen again by the senior consultant & cardiologist, who explained advised treatment of NSAID drugs. A prescription was written for me prepared, and I was discharged at 5:30 p.m.
I had superb fast service, help, and kind treatment from start to finish!. Well done and thank you to all concerned
