Anything else?
The nursing care was dependent upon which staff were on duty. The ward rounds were a bit haphazard. The pain I was in was intolerable at times and sometimes patients had to wait up to 2 hours after requesting analgesia. Discharge was rushed. No analgesia given. Own medication not returned. No advice given about what to do following discharge. No leaflets given on what to do or not to do following a laparotomy. Ended up in A&E 36 hours after discharge with wound infection. This resulted in me needing daily district nurse visits for 6 weeks.
Don't bother making a complaint using the Trust's complaints procedure. It is a travesty and a total waste of time. The Trust supports its staff following a complaint. The patient is left with no support or closure. Don't do it! It will only add to your distress.
