Anything else?
While on Holiday in Torquay for New Year 2012, I found myself feeling very unwell. I was taken into Torbay Hospital by Ambulance & found myself in the "A & E" Dept. on a trolley. No sooner than I was admitted the Nurseing staff explained who they where & that they would be looking after me. The staff carried out Tests while explaining what they where doing & why. I was then seen by two different Drs. who again explained who they where & the Tests which they where doing & why. Having been poorly most of the previous night it was very nice & welcome to be offered breakfast. I was sent for an X-ray & again the Dr. explained the result. I was moved to a Ward & again met by Staff who Explained who they where & that they would be looking after me. The Dr. again came to see me & confirmed what they had diagnosed in "A & E" Dept. & that I would be seen by the Consultant. The Consultant after giving me another once over he said I could go back to the Hotel. My last problem after sorting out my things to go to the Hotel was having to ask the Nurse who had been looking after me was for help, as I don't know where I was or how to get back to my Hotel. She went away & returned a few minutes later saying a Taxi was on it's way & the driver would come into the Ward & ask for me by name. About ten minutes later the Taxi arrived & I was wisked back to my Hotel for a New Years Eve Grand Dinner. Having worked in a Hospitals Facilities Dept. at Home & also being a Patient in the same hospital, I have seen Hospitals from both sides & Torbay compares with the Best the N.H.S. can offer. My Gratfull Thanks to all Concerned. Ray Marshall.
