I was diagnosed with a Sigmoid Carcinoma in December 2012 and to say this Hospital has looked after me is an understatement. The Colorectal team contacted me and arranged blood tests and a CT scan all before Christmas. It was a very anxious time but kept to a minimum by the speed at which things were put into motion.
The next appointment with the consultant after discussing all of my test results came in early January 2013 and I was admitted for surgery a few days later.
The Operation was a success, the after care amazing especially with the seasonal sickness and bad weather putting severe strains on staff.
I was discharged last week and have a follow up appointment at the end of the month for the results of the Lymph Nodes which have been tested for any cancer cells. I am a lucky one in so much as I have had no spread to the Liver or Lungs.
I may need Chemotherapy if there are cancer cells in the Lymph Nodes but so be it. I can cope with that knowing that every step of the way brilliant Surgeons, teams and Nursing Staff at Stafford Hospital will be there to support and care for me.
