Anything else?
For only the second time in 28 years I found myself in hospital the week before Christmas; the first time the team saved my life after an extreme asthma attack giving me all these years to build a career, have two children both born at the JR and reach retirement; this time it was for a much more mundane but extremely painful gall stone problem.
I just wanted to thank everyone involved for their care, consideration and sheer competence. From the lady who checked me in at the minor injury reception with calm professionalism, to the triage nurse who reassured my wife and I whilst plotting a course of action, to the fantastic team in Re-sus who, at 2 o’clock in the morning, did everything they could to diagnose the problem and relieve the pain in the shortest possible time, to the team of nurses, doctors, porters and auxiliaries on SEU wing who could not have been more helpful.
They all seem to work way beyond the strict interpretation of their job descriptions, almost certainly do not take all the breaks they are due, and yet have the utmost courtesy no matter the time of day or night or workload. In such a massive “machine” as the JR, this is exemplary and deserves recognition.
Finally I very much appreciated the clarity of advice and options for treatment provided by my consultanat. When your life is suddenly interrupted by a medical emergency, it is very reassuring to receive such clear guidance.
Many thanks
Charles
