"Great breast cancer care"

About: New Victoria Hospital (Glasgow) West Scotland Breast Screening Centre Western Infirmary/Gartnavel General / Radiotherapy

(as the patient),

Diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2012.

Diagnosis and treatment took place at the New Victoria Hospital, Glasgow and at The Beatson, Gartnavel Hospital, Glasgow. The care I have received at both hospitals was outstanding.

At The New Victoria, the surgeon and breast care specialist were fantastic and the radiologists and oncologist were so thorough and sympathetic, all giving of their time patiently and demonstrating their high levels of expertise. I under-went 6 rounds of chemotherapy and currently am receiving herceptin - all delivered as an outpatient of Clinic P of the New Victoria Hospital and I cannot speak highly enough of the team at Clinic P - they do fantastic work and were caring, sympathetic and highly conscientious while creating an atmosphere that is calm and relaxed for me as a patient. They take time to engage with patients on a human level and this makes all the difference.

I had my surgery in Ward 3 of The New Victoria Hospital and again from the point of entry to leaving hospital 4 days later, I felt that I was treated with the utmost care and professionalism by staff - receptionists, surgeon, aneathetists, physiotherapists and of course the wonderful nursing staff. I was indeed very fortunate to have a room to myself with my own facilities in Ward 3 and I really appreciated this privacy.

Following this, I attended The Beatson Cancer Unit at Gartnavel Hospital Glasgow for a course of radiotherapy and the receptionists, nurses and radiotherapists were all very thorough in their work and most kind and patient.

In an era when the NHS can be a target for criticism, I can honestly say that the treatment I have received has been fantastic and I extend my heartfelt thanks.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide your very kind feedback.

I will ensure that this is passed on to those involved and I am sure that they will be very pleased to read your comments.

I am sorry that this posting was not acknowledged at the time, we had a break in our use of Patient Opinion, but we have now resumed doing so, and I thought it was still important to acknowledge your posting and where appropriate to pass comments on.

Once again, thank you for using the Patient Opinion feedback system, it is greatly appreciated.

I know that all of the staff who cared for you through your stay in Ward 3 at the New Victoria hospital and also those at the Beatson Unit will be delighted to read your very thoughtful and warm remarks.
