What I liked
What I like was the fact that nursing and other staff were well aware of the challenges the hospital face in regards to the availability of medical staff and other facilities to enable effective service delivery. For instance the hospital had ran out of pillows and other essential stuff where management was very much aware of but had turned a blind eye due to budgeting constraints. In my view they were spending unwisely on other items such as using a new Cuff for each patient.
What could be improved
Nursing and medical team would need to work hand in hand rather than medical staff feeling superior over other colleagues. I was admitted whilst a doctor yanked a blood pressure machine off from a nursing staff angrily whilst caring for me with the machine .
Anything else?
Staff especially nursing and medical staff appears to be set in their own ways especially when putting antibiotics through my canulla it was very painfull however no one ever mentioned that the canulla could have been fitted wrongly. Untill I went in to st George's before I reliased that intravenous medication would only hurt if not appropriately fitted. It surprises me how staff are so used to bad practices.
I am of the opinion that the Judgement to close st Helier by the government should be heralded by all. Other trust taking on staff from st Helier should also be well supported with intensive supervision and training.
