"continuity with district nurses"

About: Sunderland Teaching PCT / District nursing University Hospital Of North Durham

(as the patient),

I have had quite a few distict nurses come to change dressings to my leg every other day, over 16 month, it got to the point where it was a case of change dressing and fill in record, as my leg started to improve visits were down to once a week.

I have asked if it would be possible to get a bit more continuity which I did, the same nurse could tell if wound was getting better I was delighted with her results so was durham hospital so much that they signed me off so I did not have to go their for anymore dressings.

Then my wound started to weep, awaiting my visit from district nurse, a new district nurse showed up and changed my dressing, not seeing wound from day one, she filled in her form, two days later I had to go back to durham hospital to have leg wound checked and treatment( I. e. ) dressing changed,

had my regular nurse attended my wound, I would have made a much better recovery, all her hard work will be for nothing
