I have stayed in Forest ward twice now and I have to say that on each occasion the nurses and care staff couldn't have been nicer, in general - especially the nurse's. They were exceptional and always took the time to have a chat with me. The one thing that I think really let's the Hospital down is the food. If you are staying for any length of time then you will need relatives to bring food in for you (which I don't think you're supposed to do).
Unfortunately I was on a low fat diet so my choices were even more limited, sometimes I would be served something that I hadn't chosen and sometimes I would have extra things on my meal tray.
I think the ward is predominantly a gynaecological ward however I was there suffering from a gallstone blockage. Patients would be asked to use the cardboard urine bowls so that nurses could test the urine and on a number of occasions I went to use the bathroom and someone had left a urine bowl (used and full) in the bathroom, in the shower area and on one occasion on the toilet.
I told the nurses and they removed them straightaway but they were not aware that they were even there, so obviously the patients were not telling the nurses. I would give my experiences a 7/10. Just the food could have made such a difference. Thank you for your care,
"Forest Ward"
