"Disgusting"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

What could be improved

The staff!!!

Anything else?

My treatment at this hospital was disgusting! The majority of the staff clearly do not enjoy their jobs and insist on inflicting their misery on patients! My son and I where repeatedly let down my Oldham hospital, after a week stay stay in pain on the ante-natal ward insisting something was wrong I was discharged and told to stick it out at home I was only in slow labour. I then went to an appointment at my consultant at Rochdale infirmary where try discovered my son was a transverse lie and my waters where bulging ready to burst. I was taking back to Oldham in an ambulance because if my waters went my sons cord would have prolapsed putting his life at risk! What where the midwifed response to this? To sit in their office and talk about me saying they didn't feel the position wrong of my son that my consultant was overreacting! The look in their faces when they saw me stood there was priceless. Then my son was born with severe jaundice and needed antibiotics from an infection. They have left a scar in my sons hand from leaving the plastic cap of the IV dug into his hand. They put the heat too high on his incubator resulting him having respiratory distress, they would give me old test results and say he was really sick and may need a blood transfusion. One midwife commented that my son was the same colours as the bins! Basically the few fantastic amazing staff they do have there and they do have some amazing staff and I appreciate them for all their support at sadly let down by the majority who need to seriously consider a career change. They clearly resent the role they have in the maternity unit. Apparently they all want to work on the labour ward hence the bitter lack of interest you are given when on any other ward!
