What I liked
I took my 14 year old son to the department at 9 am on a sunday morning (2 July) He had broken his collar bone in 3 places. I was so impressed by the attitude and professionalism of staff. We were seen and treated swiftly; explanations were given at each step of the way and my son was regularly offered pain relief throughout our two and a half hours in the department. Great care was taken to talk to my son with kindness, to give him information, give him opportunities to really understand what was happening and what possible treaments might be and generally, to put him at the centre of everything. The staff were tremendous in their approach and I felt he was in both caring and competent hands. I was so impressed when staff went to the trouble of photocopying his x ray for him as he was understandably interested in how it looked. These were busy people who went the extra mile. Staff really paid attention to my son's emotional needs as he was told he would probably need an operation. they reassured him and really tried to keep his morale high. They achieved this and I would like to praise their efforts. Many thanks to them all. They made me very proud of the NHS!
What could be improved
Nothing at all.
"Excellent, efficient and caring."
