My housemate was admitted to A&E Whiston after her nurses were concerned about a rash occurring at 3 pm today. At 8pm... It took eight hours for 1 blood test, the Doctor discharged her telling her there was nothing wrong with her. She gets home and is called by the hospital and is told she needs to come in for an emergency platelet transfusion/transplant or she would die of internal bleeding. The reason: the Doctor who discharged her read the wrong persons file.
This should be dealt with swiftly because as a result of their carelessness a young woman could have been dead by the end of the bank holiday. I feel absolutely repulsed.
