"No help yet for my 92 year old Nan"

About: Mid Essex PCT / Emergency GP out of hours service

(as a relative),

My 92 year old Nan has suddenly become very ill. She is very confused, hallucinating, falling backwards and has shaking and falling backwards feelings all the time. She can not eat, and gets very muddled.

Last Wednesday we called the doctor out to her as she was so poorly. She came out, and said she needed an urgent blood test, and would send the nurse out to her home to get this done.

Nobody turned up, so we called back Friday morning. They told us they were waiting to assign it to someone. Someone came out later that day, but could not draw blood as her veins were so small. We had already told them that they usually have to use a children's needle to draw blood.

She said after 4 attempts that someone else would have to come and do it. She said she would report back to the GP how poorly my Nan was as she had worsened since Wednesday, and a Doctor would contact us. It is now Monday and we have heard nothing from the Doctor and no nurse has been to do bloods or test urine sample that we were asked to have ready for Saturday morning.

My Nan can now not eat anything, is very confused and the hallucinations are getting more and more. She does not want to be hospitalised, and we are trying to prevent this to honour her wishes, but are banging our heads against a brick wall.

Myself and my Daughter have had to move in with my Mum to help her care for my Nan as she is unable to do this alone. Where can we get the help she needs?
