Four years ago I had a very serious mental health crisis. Looking back all the warning signs had been building for a very long time. By the time my crisis struck I had ended up in a very bad place. I immediately sought help and was put on a waiting list that I was informed would take 18 months to two years to get referral to a psychiatrist. I went into this informing the doctor that I had Aspergers Syndrome at all times.
When finally my 2 years were up and I was offered psychiatric care I had 3 assessment sessions before being told I was TOO ASPERGERS for psychotherapy.
4 years after requesting help the only actual therapy I have received has been antidepressants and ritalin. I still haven't received significant talking therapies. I find this unacceptable.
