"Wait to be admitted with kidney infection"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

My family brought me to Dr Grays and it was discovered that I had a kidney infection.

I thought that my visit at A&E was a lengthy experience. The time between being examined to being admitted to hospital was 4 hours.

But once I was on the ward I received excellent care and I’m so grateful for everything they did for me.

Thank you for your positive feedback about the care you received once you were admitted.

I am really sorry you had to wait so long to be seen in A&E. You are right when you say you should have been seen within 4 hours as this is the government target. Sometimes the department is really busy and patients do have to wait longer but you should have been kept updated about how long it would be till you 're seen.

Sometimes the department doesn't look busy but it can be all behind the scenes with soem very sick or injured people. If we do keep patients waiting over 4 hours we have to write a daily report to the governement saying why, so we try really hard to see patients within that time.

I'm sorry we didn't do that for you
