"overall, wonderful treatment by the medical staff..."

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

What I liked

Medical staff can`t be faulted but the transport department needs a great deal of attention,.

What could be improved

transport department deplorable.

Patients having been at the hospital for treatment for sometimes hours, then having to wait for transport homen again 2 hours plus. Disgusting.

I, myself accompanied my brother with terminal cancer and witnessed this situation first hand.

My brother also attended hospital on Wednesday, 8.30 a.m. appointment, finally finished treatment etc. 8 p.m. to find the trfansport dept., closed. The Nurse on the ward arranged transport home for him - 2 hour wait.

When a driver arrived, he was quite rude and his manner was very off. He pulled my brother backwards in a chair, bashing into door posts and bumping him over ramps to the vehicle. He, incidently left the wheel chair where it was.

He set his satnav to South Norwood, where he had another patient waiting to be dropped off. Unfortunately he ignored most of the satnav instructions - going left when told to go right, so all in all a 30 minute journey took 90 minutes.

Finally my brother arrived home at 10.30 p.m. absolutely exhausted after a 14 hour day. He lives on his own and cerainly didn`t feel like cooking a meal then.

I understand the financial problems running your hospital must be enormous, and that transport isn`t a priority, but, a little shake-up might help.

I am over on `holiday` from Australia to be around for my bropther, and am upset when I see him suffering from cancer let alone the problems with transport.
