"Help from the Acer Unit in Bristol"

About: Drug and alcohol services / 59-61 Stokes Croft, Bristol

(as the patient),

I first started drinking when I was 21, I am now 29. I drank anything I could get my hands on, mostly the stronger it was it would help my confidence and panic attacks.

But that wasn't the case, I would lock myself in my bedroom get bored, drink, then get aggressive, mainly with family members. Till 1 day I collapsed and I went into cardiac arrest and was unconscious for 8 days - I spent 6 weeks in hospital (ICU) then it all hit home - I knew I was killing myself.

I'd tried rehabs, home detoxes, but it didn't work. So I sought help from the Acer unit in Bristol, and the staff/nurses were so helpful and guided me through.
