My mother was admitted to that A&E department when she was experiencing difficulties in breathing. She was taken to the resucitation unit and cared for there. She suffers from dementia and is extremely frail and can do nothing for herself. She cannot communicate with those around her and she cannot eat anything other than pureed food and thickened fluids.
With all of the negative press coverage of how the elderly are treated in hospitals people will understandably be anxious when an elderly.
I have been hugely impressed by the level and quality of the care my mother received in A&E and thereafter in ward 11. The communication with staff was also excellent and I was given regular updates on my mother's condition. I believe that my mother was given the highest standards of care whilst in the RAH and that she was treated with dignity and in a genuinely caring environment. On behalf of my mother and family I want to extend my gratitude to all of the staff who were involved in my mother's care. Thank you all very much.
