About: East Surrey Hospital

What could be improved

This hospital is unable to provide even a basic level of care. My elderly mother was admitted on 26 April following a fall at home. She complained of pain in her leg. 8 days after her admission, her leg was x rayed. This showed that she had broken her hip. The x ray was not reviewed by a doctor for a further 4 days. She had an operation the next day - ie 13 days after being taken to hospital.

Response from East Surrey Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your experience at East Surrey Hospital. Without knowing the full details of your mother's condition it is difficult to comment but the delay you set out does seem extraordinary and not what the vast majority of our patients experience.

We're sorry for any undue distress you may have been caused and ask that you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) so that we can investigate fully.

Our PALS service is available to listen to concerns, suggestions or queries and can help sort out problems quickly on your behalf. You can contact PALS by telephone on 01737 231958, email: pals@sash.nhs.uk, or by writing to: PALS, East Surrey Hospital, Canada Avenue, Redhill, Surrey RH1 5RH.
