What I liked
Due to my Mother being over 100 my wife and I transported her to the hospital. We only waited a few minutes before my mother was called, Due to her fraility I accompanied her to see the Optometrist. The appointment was very thorough lasting nearly one hour. During the who appointment I was very impressed with the professional standards set by the Optometrist. During the appointment Mum was treated with great dignity and sensitiviy as they took her through the tests and questions.
The Optometrist showed Mum items of equpment that would help her reading, and was again very patient and extremely helpful and mum came away whith a piece of equipment that will help her read better. An appointment was made for 4 months time.
I had to telephone the appointments desk this afternoon to try and learn if a date had been set for Mum's next appointment as i need to fix some holidays. From the hospital's website it was easy to find the appropriate appointments desk who quickly gave me the date of the next appointment with out any fuss.
So, well done Warwick hospital!
What could be improved
On Mum's letter it said go to outpatients. We went to the well sighposted outpatients but was told that we had to be in the main entrance. It had been a bit of struggle to get my 100 year old Mum over to the mistaken outpatients dept but it was easy to get a wheelchair from the happy to help A & E which enabled us to wheel Mum over to the correct outpatients dept. There was no mention in the letter as to the location of the outpapients dept for the eye clinic and it may have helped those people who are not familiar with the site layout if reference to this is made in the letter.
Anything else?
No
