What I liked
I was admitted for uro-gynae surgery to Birchington Ward on Feb 8th 2012. I was very impressed with the nice ward I was on with 3 other female patients. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and were always prompt to respond to my calls when I needed assistance with something.
Before surgery I was able to discuss things fully with the Anaesthetist and also find out where I was on the list (lucky for me I was first!). Also my Consultant came to see me on the Ward before and after surgery which I found very comforting.
Even the food was palatable!
I would certainly recommend this hospital to any of my friends or family as I was very impressed with the high standard of care given to me over my 3 days on the Ward. Thank you very much.
What could be improved
The only thing that was not good was the fact that the ward was overheated and the radiator could not be turned off, so we had the windows open all night, in spite of it being freezing outside, which was fine as we all agreed we wanted to do that, but could have presented difficulties had one of the patients not been agreeable. It is a minor thing but something that I think could be addressed by the plumbing engineers at the hospital.
"Very good indeed, excellent care with caring staff..."
