What I liked
I have been to Pilgrim several times now and over the years found it to be in a state of constant change. With the "New lifts" which seem to be taking forever to arrive. To the change in policy on beds. I know things are tight. But I would like to rest after my Transport prior to my treatment and after as this adds stress to my day. The effort for the cleaning is uppermost and I would like more effort to be concentrated towards the patient. On my last visit I was left till late and arrived home at 20:10 hrs having been ready at 08:00 hrs a long day with minimal food and drink. The constant use of these hand gels makes the air dry and less would be better. As these gels contain an alcohol the smell is stomach turning. Please can you provide some means of drinking water.
What could be improved
Beds etc; You need to get more daycase beds. I do not like being left in the waiting room after my treatment till 19:00hrs from 16:00hrs. When I was in the bed and on a ward I was checked several times. i felt sick from the constant smell of the gels. You need to get the Transport better orgainased as they seem to not realise there are patients still waiting for transport.
On my next visit in June 2012 I expect to be shown a bed and allowed to relax before having a needle placed into my spine. Afterwards to be allowed to come back to a ward and be checked on. I'm in great pain as I write this, the treatment could be improved. I met a private patient who was operated on within three months of the event. I have had 7 years of this pain and at times feel like jumping off a bridge. I am sorry to vent on here. I have no problems with your staff except the management of the Hospital.
