About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

What I liked

My grandfather was a patient on one of the wards at this hospital, the first thing I noticed when walking into the bay on the ward was the fact that none of the patients had access to water jugs. Is this not a part of the department of health essence of care as well as basic human rights?

The staff had attitude problems espcially the health care assitants, you're meant to treat patients with dignity and care, this I did see once.

I spent the night with my grandfather and sat next to him at his bedside. I didn't see a nurse or HCA check on their paitents once during the night shift. The following night my father spent the night, he spent a good part of his night attending to other patients in the bay. Putting blankets back over patients as they were complaining that they were cold, passing a urine bottle to another patient so he could go to the toilet, these were put out of his reach. What has happened to basic nursing care in this Cornish hospital?

I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. I will be contacting the CQC directly myself.

What could be improved

Keeping the dignity of patients.
