"Appointments cancellation procedure?"

Who is responsible for notifying patients of cancellations at Larbert? The past 2 days have seen 2 members of my family travelling over 70 miles each day to be told when they arrived at paediatrics and orthopaedics, respectively their appointments have been cancelled!!!!!

To-day, my grandson who has lost valuable time at school to no avail - not to mention the cost of petrol!! - was informed it was "something of a mailing problem??"

This is far from satisfactory and would like explanations of why this is happening and why staff at Larbert cannot confirm appointments (and cancellations) by telephone as Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank always do?

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Im sorry that the clinics you and your grandson were to attend were cancelled.

This can happen for a number of reasons. I am currently trying to find out more information for you, and hope to be able to post a response in the next few days.

Normally what happens is that Health Records staff deal with urgent new patients and return patients for Paediatrics . Where a clinic has been cancelled at short notice the staff will try their best to contact the patient to prevent them from attending, where the cancellation has been at very short notice, for example if a Consultant is ill, this is not always possible .

If appointments have to be rearranged and we have had sufficient notice of this fact we will send out a letter to the patient.
