What I liked
I live over an hour away and was taken ill shopping in the area so have no previous biased information about the hospital. As a nurse of 30 years I have plenty of experience all over the country!
It took less than 10 minutes for the ambulance to arrive and I was transferred immediately to Blackburn Hosp, ambulance staff were very efficient, caring and helpful to the elderly friend that I had with me. I was assessed immediately by triage nurse and taken to urgent care unit. My only problem here was that I was sat in a waiting room with other patients including children, my nose was pouring blood and I was vomiting blood, so although I was prepared to wait my turn I was very sorry for the people around me. I was soon moved to a cubicle where I was seen by a very kind and efficient doctor . I was treated and transferred to ward B14' from being taken ill to being given a bed on the ward, it was just over 3hours which I feel is very impressive. The ward was spotlessly clean, the nursing staff were very efficient and I felt that the treatment and care I received were excellent. The food was very good. I watched the staff cleaning the bed and surrounding fitments after a patient was discharged, and was very impressed at their thoroughness. All the staff were very pleasant and I felt informed and safe at all times. Overall a very pleasant experience which could have been a lot worse being so far from home. Thank you very much.
What could be improved
Keep up the good work,
"A very good experience, felt safe and well cared..."
