Thoroughly disappointed with the treatment received recently. My son was extremely ill holding his head and crying saying 'my head hurts mummy'. He was accessed and I explained he had been ill for a few days. No urgency, we waited 2 hours before being seen even though I saw some of the nurses stood around chatting in reception, I asked and was told the doctor was on his break. I cannot believe in a hospital of this size operating a A&E children’s department did not cover a doctor’s break. I think they should have a doctor on the department at all times, quite frankly I think it is a disgrace that one was not available.
I was sat in front of a poster that said meningitis; I was told my son didn’t have a stiff neck. How does the nurse know? She didn’t ask him and also a poster says you don’t get all symptoms.
My experience at Preston was far better; I received more reassurance instead of cold hearted replies and too many personal opinions. We left the hospital and then had to seek further medical advice due to the doctor not feeling my son wasn’t ill enough. I felt there was no care what so ever...complaint will be going in...
