About: Broomfield Hospital

What I liked

Consultant was brilliant. however my son has a serious, maybe life threatening illness so she needed to see him in her next clinic in 4 weeks. She wrote overbook on the rquest slip to ensure this.

What could be improved

broomfield hospital has a booking of appointments policy that regardless of medical need, if a clinic the consultant has asked to see the patient is full, the booking centr just write NC (no capacity) on the slip and then just book any old clinic sometimes months later than the consultant has requested. The policy is that only people who call and complain are re-booked. elderly and vulnerable patients just accept this outragous treatment and wait say 9 months insted of 3 for a follow up appointment.

This practice must be made public knowledge.

Anything else?

If you do not get an appointment within the time scale suggested by the consultant you must complain.
