"Monitoring people after intervention"

About: Rotherham PCT

(as a staff member),

The waste/duplication/inefficiency I want to tell you about is:

- Monitoring people after interventions - reducing revolving door syndrome

- Drug - expensive drugs and unused prescriptions

I know about this because I have experiences of people going back to pre-rehab state 6 months after an intervention.

I support the organisation in making sure that the voice of patients and the public is heard and used in planning services. This involves running events, managing surveys, and building networks with the local community.

This comment was posted from our Stakeholder event in June. We are asking for help in identifying waste and inefficiencies within health services, as we want to make provide the best value we can for public money.

A full report of the event has been sent to attendees and NHS Rotherham Board. Details of specific actions and issues have also been passed to commissioning staff for action.

Specific Issues Raised Above

There were a lot of comments made around waste relating to prescription medication. All these have been passed to our medications lead. From what you say, it may be that we need to remind people around ordering repeat prescriptions effectively, and discourage stockpiling of medication.

We know that a few people need to use services repeatedly.

Our lead on long-term conditions is looking into how we support people in the community more effectivley, so that they are less likely to need admitting to hospital .

Many thanks for your comments.
